THE KEY IDEA
Read the surprise, the policy implication and the observed response separately. A headline alone is not a complete BTC explanation.
From release to market response
Our framework asks whether new information changes expectations for growth, inflation, funding or market access. Those are possible transmission channels into risk-taking. The Federal Reserve’s account of monetary policy explains why financing conditions and asset prices belong in that chain. Federal Reserve explanation.
This does not make every move in Bitcoin a macro move. A release can coincide with a price change without causing it. Crypto-specific developments and existing positioning remain competing explanations.
What we examine
- Inflation and growth: the specific release, reference period, revision history and expectation source.
- Policy: the decision, accompanying statement and any change from previously communicated guidance.
- Regional context: US, European and Asian policy developments considered on their own terms.
- Event calendar: scheduled dates, time zones and whether an event has actually occurred.
- Reaction: rates, currencies, credit and BTC over a clearly stated observation window.
Avoid mixing expectations with facts
A daily report should distinguish “scheduled,” “released” and “revised.” A consensus estimate needs its own source and collection time. If a reliable expectation is unavailable, report the release without inventing the size of a surprise.
Different combinations deserve different interpretations. Softer inflation with resilient activity is not the same backdrop as weakening activity with persistent price pressure. We would describe the combination before assigning a broad market regime.
Respect timing and uncertainty
Slow economic series should not be presented as newly changing on every day that the report runs. Weekend analysis can still examine crypto activity and the coming calendar while preserving the date of the latest traditional-market observation.
Event risk is a scenario discussion, not a forecast dressed as a schedule. State the channel that could matter, then update the assessment when actual evidence becomes available.
